Pellan Italia Highlights
Who we are, what we do.
Pellan Italia is the Parent Company of a group of Italian and foreign companies, established on December 31st, 2014. It operates as a holding company for a well developed system of different production entities which move and evolve around three models which are common to all of them: diversification, innovation and sustainability.
Part of the Group:
Established in 1964 as Fiscagomma S.p.A. and subsequently renamed as Fiscatech after the merger of its to production sites: Fiscatech Vigevano and Sogetec Cormons under a single brand name.
Innovative start-up born as a spin-off of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), engaged in the industrialization of graphene and other two-dimensional crystals.
Champions of inovation
"I've always had the best results in my life when I developed something new”.
This is how Achille Costamagna, founder of Pellan Italia, summarizes over half a century of an entrepreneurial adventure, his own, which had experienced both unprecedented success and the recession and a sharp contraction in the traditional leather goods sector, always betting on innovation.
In the second half of the 1980s, first in the World, Fiscagomma launches an innovative polyurethane coagulated lining on non-woven fabric, while Sogetec specializes in the production of non-woven fabrics and bases. From those days on, we can still find innovation and creativity today in Fiscatech, a forerunner in the field of new hi performing and fashionable materials from renewable sources.
With the historic Cesare Galdabini S.p.a. (1890) Pellan Italia approaches the challenges of the future of machine tools, investing more than 7% of its turnover in R&D.
Finally, in BeDimensional (2019), Pellan Italia brings the Group's experience and diversification to a whole new level by taking on the challenge of industrializing new materials (graphene, two-dimensional crystals) and the great potential connected with their transversal qualities capable of revolutionizing the performance of many products and the balance of their markets.
Up to the present: when innovating means winning the challenge of sustainability.
We talk a lot about innovation for sustainability as well as innovation as sustainability. An ethical commitment which has become an integral part of those who want to approach in a unique and proactive way the market. And win. Technologies, furthermore, which represent as its best a “trend innovation” by product and process. Taking into reality schemes and products characterized by a very original sustainItaly.
The wonders of Pellan concern the originality of the products, the discovery of new materials, the case history of the markets, its being more and more convincingly bio-oriented.
Made with raw materials from renewable sources, and unique production layouts, Super® is the true champion of the SustainItaly paradigm. Dedicated to the sustainable fashion market, with low environmental impact as certified by a specific LCA, Super®, solvent free, with vegetable origin, water-repellent and capable of high resistance, interprets the European directives on chemicals. And it allows the production of customized materials: from small leather goods and belts to bags of different shapes, to footwear and luggage, from bookbinding to luxury packaging, automotive, outdoor-indoor furniture, to the clothing sector.
E-ULTRA®Besides and together with SUPER®, combining performance with attention to the environment, Fiscatech's R&D has perfected the development of a further variant in the collection of eco-sustainable materials, its complement: the E-Soft ULTRA collection. E-ULTRA is a coated product that offers to the customers an even higher percentage from renewable sources. It also combines a lower weight and a softer and rounder hand, making the material suitable for a wider number of applications, both as regards specific modeling in the footwear and leather goods segment, and expanding the potential field of use to other sectors such as furniture, packaging, clothing.
CIRCULAR®If plastic is becoming one of the biggest problems for the planet for many, for others it is an incredible resource from which to develop ecological projects. CIRCULAR® is the new non-woven fabric by Fiscatech, a performing, versatile and environmentally sensitive product. The production starts from post-consumer recycled polyester fibers, obtained from the recovery of PET bottles and guaranteed by the Global Recycle Standard traceability path. CIRCULAR® guarantees excellent mechanical strength combined with a pleasant hand, these make it ideal both as a reinforcement for leather goods and as a non-slip for footwear.

AND ITS NEW CHALLENGES
After years of success in the footwear and leather goods segments, Pellan Italia has extended, as we have seen, the original Fiscatech approach to the new worlds of binding, luxury packaging, labels, automotive and upholstery. Recently, just from an accurate market research, it has started a new partnership with BeDimensional, the only company in the World able to produce graphene on an industrial basis, so pushing its innovation and performance horizons even further. Investing without hesitation in this forward looking startup, Pellan Italia has been able to quickly kick-off a new phase which leads to the industrial production of graphene (and other two-dimensional crystals) of the highest quality.

2. CERERE 81
"We sowed the sea, this checkered sea which are our rice fields”. Cerere 81, the Group's farm, 500 hectares near Confienza, in the heart of Lomellina, among the top 20 in Italy, is dedicated to rice farming and is a supplier of major national players.
Based at the Kyrie farmhouse, which houses the church of Sant’Ignazio (17th century), on the Via Francigena along the road to Vespolate, Cerere 81 is a champion of ecological and environmental sustainability. All stages of production from the first water in the paddy field to the grain processed in the company are followed and controlled to respect nature, the environment and the people who work there: reducing waste, decreasing the use of pesticides, using only resources from 100% renewable energies.
The Cerere paddy field is a sustainable environment in itself, where many animal species continue to inhabit it and a large part of the land - not used - is destined for biodiversity. Sustainable also because we protect the people who work in the fields and by guaranteeing fair compensation to farmers we give consumers the best guarantee.
The attention to synergies and interactions in Pellan Italia also suggests the study of an industrial process for the recycling of rice waste, mainly straw, in bio-building applications. Cerere 81 then works on the creation of an entire sustainable production chain related to the new demand represented by experiential tourism which finds in Cascina Kyrie and its multimedia agricultural museum (MAM) a testimony of the best Made in Italy. Landscape, food and bio-agriculture. But also an important memory of the peasant culture to be handed down to the Italian school in the sign of Expo Milano 2015.
In 1949 the director Giuseppe De Santis used Cascina Kyriè as a set for some scenes of the film Riso Amaro, with Silvana Mangano and Vittorio Gassman, considered one of the masterpieces of Italian cinema neorealism.
Since the initial repair and maintenance of machinery for the textile industry (1890), Galdabini immediately oriented itself towards the construction of machine tools. The company strongly believes that innovation in the design and development of cutting-edge solutions make the difference in the market.
The high customer loyalty index and the reputation gained over the years is for Pellan Italia the best testimony to Galdabini quality. By this spirit has been created the Technology Center, a dedicated area of over 600 square meters where the developed technology is available to the customers, who can view cutting-edge machines, test their products and study - together with our expert - adapted solutions to individual needs. Galdabini products are CE certified and the company is ISO 9001 certified.
Since 1986, a Calibration Laboratory has developed new sectors and expanded the sample instruments and measuring fields accredited first as a SIT Laboratory and today as an ACCREDIA Calibration Center.
The innovative start-up BeDimensional was born as a spin-off company of the IIT - Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia - thanks to the work of three researchers from the Graphene Labs of the IIT: Vittorio Pellegrini, Francesco Bonaccorso and Andrea Gamucci.
BeDimensional has signed a space / equipment agreement and an exclusive license agreement for some patents with IIT: including one about industrial production of graphene and other two-dimensional crystals.
5. CENTRO CUORE
In 2019 Pellan Italia allocated funding to non-profit organizations and charities, specifically to the Centro Cuore di Vigevano Association.
